June 12 marks the annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration and this year, HERO Foundation, Inc. joined the Philippine Army (PA) once again in celebrating at the Bonifacio High Street mall grounds last June 13-14, 2015 (Saturday and Sunday). Imparting their skills and abilities to this year’s celebration is Team Redwing, a group of air-soft enthusiasts who willingly shared their time and knowledge in target shooting using air-soft guns to be able to raise funds for HERO Foundation and awareness on proper gun handling techniques.
The Phil Army Independence Day Celebration showcased the capability of our Philippine Army including their various competencies and talents. Attractions set in the event are: Airsoft Target Range courtesy of Team Redwing, Mini-zipline by the Army Rescue Team, static display by the Special Forces and Scout Rangers, Camou Face Booth, Riffle Assembly-Disassembly and photo wall in jungle setting.
The Phil Army Explosive and Ordinance Disposal (EOD) or the bomb squad and the K-9 sniffing dog units also exhibited their stunts followed by the Rifle Drill and the PA Marching Band. The activities last until night time with performance from the PA Combo Band, Brass Band and HERO Volunteer band, Kilos.
Attendance of the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, LtGen Hernando DCA Irriberi, AFP, together with his whole family and other commanding chiefs were also witnessed.
The event is the second time for HERO Foundation to participate with the Philippine Army. HERO’s first exhibit with the Army was in March 2015 during the Philippine Army 118th Anniversary at the same venue in Bonifacio High Street .
